Roles & Responsibilities

**Job Purpose**

Responsible for managing the podiatry section and for providing specialized assessment and treatment to patients referred for podiatry. He/she will supervise and mentor the principal podiatrists leading the podiatry subsections.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
- Monitor and ensure that the podiatry section consistently meets or exceeds the clinical and service standards/targets.
- Oversee the development, promotion, and marketing of new clinical services in the podiatry section.
- Assist in the preparation of regular statistical reports, budgetary reports, and management reports for the podiatry section.
- Monitor key performance indicators for the podiatry section (clinical / service quality, revenue and productivity) and ensure that the targets are consistently met.
- Plan deployment of staff in the podiatry section.
- Chair or attend meetings on issues related to podiatry.
- Supervise principal podiatrists in the podiatry section.
- Recruit, nurture and retain competent podiatrists who meet or exceed the job expectations.
- Ensure that the developments in the podiatry section are aligned with Corporate and departmental objectives.
- Identify and implement work redesign solutions in the occupational therapy section.
- Network strategically with healthcare practitioners in NUH and other institutions on issues related to podiatry.
- Ensure that the clinical protocols and SOPs in the podiatry section are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Manage projects assigned to the podiatry section.

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)
Report to referring doctor and other members of the medical team.
- Document patient podiatry records accurately.
- Charge patients accurately.
- Perform registration of new patients.
- Update individual performance statistical records regularly.
- Update monthly performance statistical reports for the occupational therapy section.
- Practice within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from senior/other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
- Collaborate with other healthcare members and participate in case conferences.
- Plan and coordinate research initiatives within the podiatry section.
- Spearhead and lead in departmental / hospital activities (eg QC).
- Perform budget / financial / T&E planning for the podiatry section.
- Perform equipment utilisation reviews and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Liaise with academic institutions regarding issues related to clinical education for podiatry education.
- Contribute to departmental in-service training programmes, hospital educational talks, and external talks/workshops/forums/seminars.
- Actively update podiatry knowledge and skills.
- Practice within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
**Job Specification/Requirements**
- Recognized Degree in Podiatry.
- Postgraduate qualifications in relevant clinical specialty (recognised clinical specialist) preferred.
- 12 years of relevant work experience preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good supervisory and coaching skills.
- Service-oriented and customer focused.
- Result oriented.
- Team worker.
- Competent in IT skills (Microsoft Excel / Word / Access / Powerpoint).
- Basic management knowledge and skills is preferred.
