Research Fellow

A Research Fellow position is available to join the Microbiome Medicine Laboratory led by A/Prof Sunny Wong at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, part of Nanyang Technological University.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide bioinformatics analysis for omics data, including microbiome, genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics data and software compilations- Perform molecular biology assays/ experiments- Contribute to formulating hypothesis, grant writing, publications in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at conferences, seminars, and meetings- Manage datasets and databases, ensure data security, privacy, and compliance to university guidelines- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary team (internal team members and external collaborators) to ensure bioinformatics pipeline aligns with overall research objective- Supervise and mentor junior lab members, including graduate and undergraduate students in bioinformatics analysis and sequencing data interpretation
Key Competencies and Educational Requirements:
- PhD in relevant field of Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Life Sciences, or related fields- Research experience preferably in the bioinformatic or biomedical field- Proficiency in bioinformatic tools and programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, R or similar programming languages- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques will be a bonus- Self-directed learner who picks up relevant skills as required- A record of productivity with scholarly, peer-reviewed publications- Able to work independently and as a team player
