**Assistant Head Co-Curricular (Whole College)**
The Assistant Head [Co-curricular] is responsible to the Head for providing leadership and management in the successful delivery and development of the School’s co-curricular programme and those areas that contribute to the development of pupils beyond the academic and pastoral.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Maintain outstanding levels of co-curricular provision, while monitoring all aspects of that provision, including staff involvement, training, engagement and performance, facilities and the health and safety of pupils.
- Play a crucial role in setting the tone and crafting the culture at the School.
- Be a visible presence and to lead by example, providing inspiration and motivation for all in the area of the co-curricular.
- Be responsible for the day house programme at Brighton College (Singapore).
- Ensure that the co-curricular programme successfully balances the aims of mass participation, elite development and enrichment for all, effectively and authentically reflecting the School’s ethos, philosophy and strategy.
- Liaise regularly with the other members of the SLT and Governors about Health &
Safety.
- Provide information and analysis of co-curricular activities at the school as and when required.
- Act as the EVC for the Senior School, and oversee the work of the Prep school EVC, to assist staff with planning and running all types of school trip.
- Take ownership over the school calendar, to ensure school events are carefully scheduled.
**Strategy & Planning**
- Be responsible for the strategic development and utilisation of the co-curriculum.
- Develop a co-curricular strategy, reporting to the SLT on a regular basis with an aim to enhance BCS’ position as a leading school in the co-curricular field.
- Write, implement and review the annual co-curricular section of the school improvement plan.
- Encourage and develop a pupil-led and organised co-curricular programme.
- Support the production of and then review the annual development plans for music, sport, drama and outdoor education, c.
- Ensure that the co-curricular provision at the School is appropriate, relevant, and attractive for all pupils at all stages of their time at Brighton College (Singapore).
- Ensure any co-curricular policies are relevant, referenced appropriately in any school policies and up-to-date (including on the website).
- Act as budget coordinator for all co-curricular related budgets.
- Oversee the school calendar and liaise with the Deputy Heads [Pastoral & Academic] as to the priority of certain events.
- Staying informed of all EduTrust/ MOE requirements relating to the provision of co-curricular activities in Singapore and liaising with the head of compliance accordingly.
- Promote the co-curricular programme to pupils/parents and the wider community, and share its success using a range of methods including social media.
- Utilise co-curricular activities to promote the School and those activities to feeder
- Schools and as outreach to support local children, local schools and the local community.
- Takes responsibility in consultation with the Assistant Heads for allocating staff to relevant co-curricular responsibilities [e.g. sports staffing] and ensuring a fair and full co
- curricular involvement of all teaching staff.
- Ensure that there is a programme of recruitment, training, support and development of staff involved in co-curricular activities.
- Ensure that the College meets its compliance obligations in all areas of activity including, but not limited to, Health and Safety, Safeguarding & Child Protection & Regulatory authorities in Singapore.
**Educational Visits, Trips & Tours**
- Author, approve and oversee the programme of tours, trips and visits offered by the School.
- Produce, implement, annually review and update the School’s Educational Visits Policy.
- Ensure that the EV Policy reflects the latest regulatory requirements.
- Draw up a termly programme of visits for inclusion in the calendar.
- Ensure that the School’s educational visits and trips are strategically scheduled and neither undermine one another nor place unreasonable pressure on individual pupils, nor create unreasonable expense for parents.
- Advise members of staff on the writing of risk assessments for school trips.
- Oversee the paperwork for school trips, ensuring all school trip organisers fulfil the requirements of the EV Policy.
Undertake additional duties that are appropriate to the role as directed by the Head.
**Position Requirements**
- Experienced practitioner with a proved track record of effective teaching, having obtained excellent public examination results in the British Curriculum, with the previous cohorts.
