We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a **Senior Control Manager.**

**Principal Responsibilities**

The Singapore Private Banking Chief Control Office is accountable for driving the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First Line of Defense across GPB. As part of the First Line of Defense, the CCO ensures the bank operates within its risk appetite by providing specialist risk and control knowledge and promoting ongoing risk and control monitoring as our Bank becomes simpler, more efficient, more customer-focused, and leaner.

Impact on the Business
- Drive effective design of material operational controls by:

- Working with country business lines and functions to implement better end to end and individual control design
- Reviewing and critiquing business process controls both for individual and end to end levels
- Driving effective design, analysis and remediation of control measures by:

- Working with country business lines, functions and lines of defence to design key measures and tools to ensure control effectiveness
- Driving the Complaints Management process to ensure implementation of the policy, fair investigation and resolution of complaints with minimum possible conflicts of interest
- Control measures which could include RCA, KRIs, test approaches, reviews, audits, judgment based attestations
- Driving the Internal Event Management process which is the is the identification, recording and management of internal events (e.g. operational losses)
- Be the key point of contact in the CCO for the Audit and Exam Management process which manages the engagement between PBSG and Regulators as well as Internal Audit
- Perform deep dive reviews on risk & control environment by:

- Performing risk assessment deep dives initiated by trigger events such as internal and external incidents
- Conducting deep dive reviews in a timely manner, by those with appropriate expert

Leadership & Teamwork
- Direct reporting into SG CCO
- Role model a positive internal risk and control culture across in-country teams and shape the climate, tone and environment in which people work
- Make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business
- Demonstrate leadership on the execution of thematic reviews / investigations / compliance reviews in response to internal or external events within the Business Services
- Complete other responsibilities, as assigned
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand
- Close working relationship with senior stakeholders across Asia Pacific and Global GPB CCO along with other business and function CCOs and COOs
- You will be challenged by working with the increasing expectations of the Group's lead regulators in Singapore, initiate and lead projects from ideation to completion - handling ambiguity, setting clear expectations, and delivering at pace

Requirements

**Experience**:

- Advanced degree holder, 10 years of financial industry / consulting experience, and some international experience preferred
- Experience across Operations, Risk Management, and / or Audit roles requiring management of diverse risk types, including but not limited to operational, regulatory, market, traded, and credit risk

**Skills**:

- Ability to lead and influence senior management and regulators on a variety of risk-management-related topics, building and shaping narratives
- Ability to navigate the HSBC matrix and manage stakeholders across levels to improve NFR management
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently and distil complex, ambiguous information to create insights for leaders
- Ability to quickly analyse a status quo and identify opportunities for continuous improvement or process re-engineering
- Make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business
- Ability to build senior relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with senior management, key stakeholder and internal management teams
