The Opportunity
**Global law firm looking for a midlevel to senior associate with funds background to join their Singapore office.**
**This is an expansion role, as the Firm is aiming to build up its Investment Funds practice to cater to a growing Asia-Pacific Funds market.**
**The Firm’s clients include major institutional and non-institutional LPs from Asia, Europe and the U.S., including sovereign wealth funds, corporations, family offices, and fund of funds, on their investments into private fund.**
- Familiarity with the Singapore regulatory framework relating to the operation of a fund management business, including licensing (and exemption) requirements under the Securities and Futures Act (the “SFA”), and prospectus disclosure exemptions under the SFA is a plus
- Knowledge of US law requirements relating to the offering of fund interests to US investors, including a working knowledge of the US tax considerations for fund structuring, Investment Advisers Act registration and exemption statuses, ERISA exemptions and the Commodities Trading Act licenses and exemptions for commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisers
- Possess an understanding of AIFMD requirements relating to the marketing of funds in EU member states
- Be involved in negotiations of fund documentation (whether as GP counsel or LP counsel)
- 5+ years’ Funds experience (UK scale) in a Commonwealth jurisdiction (Singapore, Hong Kong, England & Wales) or the U.S.
