Business Analyst Job Description - Marine Industry

Job Summary:
A Business Analyst in a marine company is responsible for analyzing business operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making in areas such as shipping, logistics, vessel operations, compliance, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Analysis & Strategy:

- Assess business operations, market trends, and company performance in the marine industry.
- Identify areas for cost reduction, process improvements, and revenue growth.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.

2. Data Analysis & Reporting:

- Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to shipping, fuel consumption, logistics, and fleet performance.
- Develop dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and operational efficiency analysis.

3. Process Improvement & Optimization:

- Evaluate and enhance business processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to implement automation and digital solutions.
- Assist in implementing best practices in fleet management, procurement, and supply chain.

4. Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Work with internal teams, including operations, finance, and IT, to align business goals.
- Engage with external stakeholders, such as suppliers, port authorities, and regulatory bodies.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements and propose solutions.

5. Regulatory & Compliance Support:

- Ensure business operations comply with international maritime regulations.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, environmental policies, and safety standards.
- Support documentation and reporting requirements for compliance audits.

6. Technology & Digital Transformation:

- Assist in implementing digital tools for fleet tracking, performance monitoring, and data analytics.
- Support ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and business intelligence system integrations.
- Leverage AI and IoT solutions for predictive maintenance and fuel optimization.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Experience in the marine, shipping, or logistics industry is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or Python.
- Knowledge of maritime regulations, shipping operations, and fleet management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
