**Your responsibilities**

An opportunity exists for a Meteorologist with the Asia-Pacific Trading Desk “AP-TD”. The AP-TD consists of a multitude of different, mainly interlinked trading desks including Power, Fuel, PetChem and Steel across multiple locations in Asia, Oceania and Europe.
- Daily Operational Weather Forecasting with focus on Asia
- Daily briefings on core Power markets of Japan and Australia
- Provide explanations behind your inhouse view as well as a comparison towards external vendors and point out their perceived weaknesses vs your assessment
- Provide a monthly/seasonal outlook as well as early notification on longer term climatic trends and/or formation of extreme weather events
- Data driven work
- Setup and automate point specific forecasts (flood points close to mines in Australia, Solar radiation around significant PV parks, Rainfall and river levels feeing into Hydro dams, etc. )
- Implement and automate time-series using historical averages, external vendors and your inhouse view for temperature, radiation, rainfall, wind speed, etc.
- Identify and onboard new proprietary data sources in the weather, climate or air pollution space
- Maintain and improve further the existing proprietary models built on top of multi ensemble numerical weather model output for N. America, Europe and Asia
- Develop new analytical tools and methodologies to connect model output to the price formation process of a particular commodity market

**Your profile**
- Fluent in the numerical and computational methods used to construct weather systems models
- Excellent understanding of the physical processes that produce weather and their quantification
- Detailed understanding of the physical and dynamical building blocks of climate
- Advanced academic degree (PhD) in Meteorology. Track record in NWP would be strongly advantageous.
- Good communication skills and ability to explain complex scientific concepts
- Relevant knowledge of commodities markets would be advantageous
- Efficient user of Phyton, R or other programming tools
- Ability to adapt to different types of tasks and the capability to keep a cool head in a pressured environmen
- Effective team player skills to work in a team of Meteorologists
