**In this role, you will**:

- Conduct research to develop and optimise genetic improvement and selective breeding programs for Asian seabass and other identified species.
- Design and implement experiments to evaluate genetic variation, heritability, genetic correlations and Genotype-by-Environment (GxE) interactions of commercially important traits.
- Design and implement experiments to evaluate the genetic diversity and population structure.
- Analyze phenotypic and genomic data to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) and perform genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including biologists, statisticians, and industry partners, to achieve project goals.
- Prepare and present research findings in scientific reports, peer-reviewed publications, and at conferences.
- Stay current with advancements in aquaculture genetics and breeding techniques to incorporate best practices into research projects.
- Provide technical support and training on breeding and genetics best practices to industry stakeholders.

**Our requirements**:

- Strong scientific or research background in aquaculture genetics, breeding, or related field.
- Familiarity with genetic diversity and population genetics analysis such as observed and expected heterozygosity (H), effective population size (Ne) and rate of inbreeding (ΔF).
- Strong knowledge in molecular genetics techniques, such as SNP genotyping, QTL mapping, and GWAS.
- Strong statistical and bioinformatics skills, including experience with genomic relationship matrices (GRM) and genomic selection models.
- Familiarity with software and tools for genetic data analysis (e.g., ASReml, PLINK, BCFtools, BLUPF90+).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Marine Aquaculture Centre (St John’s Island).
