Senior Etl Engineer

As a Senior ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of the organization's data infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth and efficient extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources into the designated data warehouse or database. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, design ETL processes, and implement solutions that meet business needs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Data Extraction and Transformation: Identify, extract, and transform data from diverse sources such as databases, APIs, flat files, and other structured/unstructured data formats.
- ETL Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows using appropriate tools and technologies, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the process.
- Shell Scripting: Create and optimize shell scripts to support data processing and automation tasks related to ETL processes.
- Database Management: Work extensively with Oracle databases, handling data manipulation, and optimizing performance for ETL operations.
- SSIS Packages: Utilize SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to build and manage data integration solutions within the Microsoft SQL Server environment.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize ETL processes to enhance performance, reduce processing time, and ensure scalability.
- Data Quality and Cleansing: Implement data quality checks, data cleansing routines, and error handling mechanisms to maintain high data integrity.
- Data Modeling: Collaborate with data architects and analysts to design data models that support efficient data retrieval and reporting.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation of ETL processes, workflows, and data mappings.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Identify and resolve issues related to data extraction, transformation, or loading, and provide technical support to resolve any ETL-related problems.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure that data handling complies with relevant security and privacy standards and regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the data engineering team, data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams to understand requirements and deliver data solutions effectively.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as an ETL Engineer with a strong focus on data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
- Proficiency in designing and developing shell scripts for automation and data processing.
- Expertise in Oracle databases and SQL, including data manipulation, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts and best practices.
- Experience in a banking environment is highly advantageous, particularly in understanding banking data structures and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and integrity.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in data engineering or database management are a plus.
