The role holder is responsible for the delivery and operation of the regulatory framework for Currencycloud’s APAC business, ensuring that the company observes all relevant local and international Regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring the business is well positioned to onboard and transact with APAC customers in target segments.
The role holder is part of the compliance team for the APAC region, working alongside the APAC Compliance Director. While the Compliance Director is responsible for the delivery and operation of the Compliance framework for Currencycloud’s APAC business, ensuring that the company observes all relevant local and international Anti-money-laundering, Financial Crime and Transaction Monitoring requirements, the focus for the APAC Senior Manager - Regulatory is to own and manage all matters relating to Currencycloud’s status as a company regulated to provide financial services in a number of jurisdictions within the APAC region. As well as this, alongside the APAC Compliance Director, the APAC Senior Manager - Regulatory will ensure the business is well positioned to onboard and transact with APAC customers in target segments from a regulatory perspective.
**What we expect of you, day to day**
- Be the regulatory lead for our APAC region. Act as a local compliance leader and the go-to person for regulatory matters in APAC for all colleagues, liaising with other global Currencycloud and Visa Compliance and Regulatory stakeholders as required
- Develop and maintain relevant regulatory APAC policies and procedures in line with our global policies
- Own the delivery of key regulatory change and/or improvement/remediation projects
- Own the development of the regulatory elements of the compliance monitoring plan across APAC jurisdictions - such as designing and owning regulatory reporting calendars, documenting key controls and reviews and the frequency with which they need to happen, and ensuring the requirements per jurisdiction are executed on
- Identify and oversee local regulatory risks for the region and its regulated entities and own the documentation, support risk owners with management and mitigation efforts
- Lead any expansion of our regulatory footprint within region
- Support the Group regulatory teams by leading the capturing and reporting on upcoming regulatory change in-region (‘horizon-scanning’)
- Collaborate with the Global Compliance team to establish and evolve local procedures and ensure we remain within risk appetite
- Design and regularly monitor and report on KRIs/KPIs to allow key stakeholders to assess how effectively regulatory risk is being managed over time
- Design and deliver regulatory training to first line of defense operational and business teams
- Support the business with decision-making regarding new-client on-boarding from a regulatory risk management perspective, working closely alongside the North America Compliance Director in escalation forums.
- Support the banking team in setting up and maintaining banking relationships with providers in APAC, including ensuring that any safeguarding banking providers are appropriate in compliance with local rules and requirements
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
**Qualifications**
- Good general knowledge of financial services regulators in APAC and their differing approaches
- Experience of managing relationships between firms and the regulators
- Experience of implementing policies and procedures as well as drafting them
- Experience of conducting business-wide financial crime risk assessments
- Ability to provide training on key regulatory considerations to sales and marketing, operational and other teams as necessary, e.g. safeguarding, limitations on who we can sell to, where, and what we can sell
- Comfortable working across regions - although the role will be autonomous within region, strong collaboration with the Regulatory group functions in other regions such as EMEA will be required from time-to-time
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
