**About Lumen**

**The Role**:
The Hosting compute department is accountable for all platform support for Lumen Technology managed hosting Clients, Comprising of Incident Management, Change Management, Request Fulfillment and interacting closely with Problem management.

The Database Administrator will be part of the Global Database Engineering team, which is responsible for all the aspects of database administration on production environments.

**The Main Responsibilities**:

- Maintain 99.99% availability for all Lumen Database Managed Hosting customers
- Interface with other central organizations to improve and implement process, procedures and automation.
- Pro-active and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of issues.
- Provide 24x7 escalation supports for Sybase, MSSQL or Oracle environments and for assigned account(s).
- The DBA will also help develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures and document database architecture to ensure the security and integrity of the databases.
- The DBA will implement data models, database designs, data access, table maintenance and code changes together with our development team.
- This position will primarily require working with Solution Design Engineers, Help Desk and cross functional teams to achieve desired results.
- The DBA would also be required to conduct training sessions with other non-Sybase DBA team members.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Sybase and Oracle Database Administration/support in production environment
- Installation of Sybase, Sybase IQ and ASE environments
- Migration/Upgrade of Sybase database from 12.5 to 15.5/7, Sybase IQ (15.x), Sybase replication (12.5.x, 15.x)
- ESD patching and forecasting of capacity of Sybase database
- Schedule/adjust the weekly maintenance of databases viz dbcc/reorg/update statistics as per the requirements.
- Oracle Database Administration/support in Oracle RDBMS 19c,12c,11g, 10g
- RAC implementations experience
- Setting up and maintaining Dataguard
- Well versed with Backup and Recovery concepts and Point in time recovery.
- Build automation tools using shell scripts and Perl programming to reduce manual implementation
- In-depth knowledge of database internals and data structures
- Experience in MS SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Postgres, Couchbase, Cassandra will be an added advantage
- Understanding of various 3rd party database monitoring and administration tools
- Strong Knowledge in Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.) and their RDMS/DB offering
