**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the NMS curatorial team in conceptualising and developing storylines and themes for permanent galleries and special exhibitions, particularly in the area of post-war to contemporary Singapore history. This can include socio-cultural history such as popular culture and visual culture, film, music and entertainment, ethnic-based traditions and practices in Singapore, as well as areas of contemporary interest such as Singapore’s urban development, sustainability and environment.
- Work closely with collections managers, conservators, designers and related parties to set up and project manage exhibitions.
- Active collaboration with other museum departments including education, programming, marketing, philanthropy and digital services.
- Contribution to the development of the museum’s curatorial and collecting strategies, particularly in contemporary collecting.
- In-depth involvement in acquisition of new artefacts, maintaining relationships with donors, and securing loans of collections from other institutions and collectors.
- Ongoing research and publications, with active public engagement through talks, tours and other forms of engagement.
**Requirements**:
- Background in History or related humanities and social sciences, with a strong interest and specialisation in Singapore history, public history and art history.
- Preferably 2 years of relevant research or curatorial work and/or a Masters degree in a relevant field would be advantageous.
- Excellent research and writing abilities with proficiency in English. Written and conversational proficiency in other languages would be advantageous.
- Excellent engagement skills with reference to collaborating or co-creating with a variety of partners.
- Strong organisational, project management and inter-personal skills, able to work independently and in a team.
- Adaptable and willing to experiment with new forms of curatorial approaches, including the incorporation of new digital technologies.
