Engineer, Network Operations

**ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY**
SES Singapore is looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join the Global Services Engineering team of the Service Delivery Department, who will be responsible for supporting commissioning of new services and providing 24x7 Level 3 Man-aged Services on-call support to the SES NOC, but also for the engineering escalations and other services to keep the network stabilized and maintained for customer SLA requirements.

The role is primarily focused on the IP Network Components of the SES product portfolio and on monitoring tools & Linux administration elements, but it also includes customer facing. Therefore, you will be concentrating on the support and growth of existing & new business products, gaining a broad knowledge of the SES product range and how these are integrated as customer solutions.

You will be responsible for

- Configuration, testing & implementation of SES Products
- Deploying monitoring tools using both industry standard and bespoke systems to enable effective alarming and historical data collection of the customer’s end to end systems
- Design, plan & execute operational changes as required, adhering to the defined Company ITIL Change Management and Internal Quality process
- Level 3 Operations Engineering support of customer’s sites in-service, to include Network Operations Centre escalation’s via on-call 24/7 rotational support basis; coaching of Level 2 NOC personnel
- Work efficiently as part of a Global multidisciplinary team, utilizing “Follow the Sun” methodology
- Perform routine auditing of assigned Regional Area or specific Customer Sites; liaising closely with the Network Operations Centre and appropriate internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with Engineering & Product Development teams in order to support the growth of the SES portfolio of products, act as the “voice of operations” to help ensure new products will fit into the operational environment
- Proactively expand areas of knowledge and seek out new experience

**YOUR PROFILE**:
Must Have
- Education at University level within Engineering or appropriate demonstratable industry experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in IP internetworking with demonstratable experience in the sat-ellite, telecommunications or service provider environment
- Juniper / Cisco experience, certifications preferred (JNCIS, JNCIP, CCNA, CCNP)
- Advanced level TCP/IP and routing knowledge (BGP,OSPF,ISIS,BFD)
- 3+ years of experience in MPLS, Layer 2 / 3 VPNs, VPLS, Carrier Ethernet, CoS/QoS and IPsec
- Network analysis and management experience using SNMP, NTP, DNS, SSH, etc.
- Troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Understanding of GSO / NGSO Satellite Constellations, Satellite Communications & Advanced Networking principles
- Background in managing satellite or telecommunications projects with a background in ITIL methodologies
- Ability to design, plan, coordinate network maintenance and installation windows
- Familiar with Unix / Linux systems administration and creation of shell scripts to automate tasks

Nice to Have
- Experience with Cloud based services such as Azure or Amazon Web Services
- Background in dealing directly with customers and understand how to manage expectations
- Analytical mind with the ability to absorb data and ask challenging technical questions
