The Signature Research Programme in Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders (NBD) focuses on understanding the structure and function of the nervous system, and the neural mechanisms underlying human neurological, psychiatric and ophthalmological disorders.
- Independently carry out the design and execution of innovative research aimed at understanding the role of genetic aberrations in rare neural disorders (syndromic autism, familial Parkinson’s disease, familial Alzheimer’s diseases, and other rare neural disorders).
- Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding.
- Focus on developing protocols to generate specific subtypes of human-induced neurons and brain organoids with single-cell genomics and functional validation.
- Collaborate with a biologist at Duke-NUS for developing standardised protocols and experimental design.
- Perform data analysis, annotation, protocol (IRB/IACUC/GMAC) preparation, pathway analysis, visualisation, and machine-learning-based imaging and data analysis.
- Attend and participate in institutional programmes, seminars, and laboratory meetings.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

**Job Requirements**:

- PhD in Cell Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Chemistry or other related fields with excellent cell culture skills.
- Possess knowledge of Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
- Have knowledge of stem cell biology and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing. Prior experience in CRISPRa or CRISPRi would be advantageous.
- Proven track record in the form of high impact publications.
- Able to work well in an interdisciplinary team of scientists.
- A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
