DESIGNATION : Social Worker (NAVH)

RESPONSIBILITIES

When violence or abuse takes place on a child, an individual or within the family, the impact is felt by everyone. In early 2021 the National Anti-Violence and Sexual Harassment Helpline (NAVH) was set up as a crucial resource for individuals who are experiencing violence, abuse, or harassment. We provide immediate support, information, and resources to those in distress while working to prevent violence in our communities. As part of the NAVH team, you too will then play a vital role of our mission to create a safer and more secure environment for the young and old in Singapore.

**Responsibilites and Duties**

As an NAVH Duty Officer, you will help to attend to violence-related enquiries that come through the NAVH. You will be involved in supporting the following tasks required to right site these violence-related calls:

- Engage caller to understand severity of situation
- Gather and verify information with other sources (e.g. schools, family members, relatives, government databases)
- Conduct risk and safety assessment for cases
- Determine response time and right-siting of cases
- Engage agencies to ensure warm transfer of cases
- Engage key family members to work with an agency

QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a relevant degree in social sciences or related discipline(s) (e.g. psychology)

OTHER INFORMATION

**Relevant Experience**
- Prior experience as a social worker in violence specialist centre and child protection work related field would be an advantage
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply

**Competencies**
- Good written and communication skills
- Ability to converse in mother tongues (Malay, Tamil and Mandarin will be added advantage)
- ** Be willing to work shift hours, where required, as the NAVH is a 24/7 helpline (shift allowance provided)**
- Able to work calmly in highly stressful situations and environment
- Good engagement, assessment, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
- Good analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Strong planning and administration skills
