The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.

We are looking for a a research associate position to advance the understanding of chirality in hybrid organic-inorganic materials using cutting-edge Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) techniques. The role will focus on investigate the mechanisms of chirality transfer, characterize chiral structures, and explore their functional properties to develop next-generation materials for optoelectronics and spintronics.

Key Responsibilities:
- Chirality Transfer Mechanisms- Study how chiral organic ligands influence the structural and electronic properties of hybrid frameworks.- Material Synthesis and Preparation- Develop solution-based methods for synthesizing chiral hybrid structures.- Investigate material-based chirality transfer mechanisms, such as mesoporous silica templating.- TEM Characterization- Perform high-resolution TEM and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) to elucidate atomic structures and symmetry.- Conduct energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) for compositional analysis.- Collaboration and Dissemination- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Job Requirements:
- Masters in Material Science Engineering- At least 3 years of relevant experiences in TEM / technical hands-on experience in operating electron microscopes- Familiarity with wet lab skills, electron microscopy and sample prep- Good written and oral communication skills- Competent in soft skills / information visualization, interaction design- Interpersonal skills
