**A **Steel Erector**is responsible for assembling, installing, and securing structural steel frameworks and metal components to form buildings, bridges, towers, and other structures. This role involves working at heights, reading blueprints, and using heavy machinery and hand tools to safely erect steel frameworks.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Read and interpret**blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications.
- **Unload, lift, and position**prefabricated steel components using cranes or hoists.
- **Align and weld, bolt, or rivet**structural steel members together using hand and power tools.
- **Install metal decking, joists, and girders**as per design plans.
- **Ensure structural integrity**and correct alignment of all components.
- **Inspect and test**steel structures for compliance with building codes and safety standards.
- **Follow all safety procedures**, including using fall protection and wearing appropriate PPE.
- **Coordinate with crane operators, supervisors, and other trades**on-site.
- **Maintain equipment**and report any mechanical issues.
- **Work at height**in various weather conditions.

**Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**:

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Completion of an apprenticeship program in steel erection or structural ironwork (desirable).
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in structural steel erection or related construction work.

**Certifications (often required or preferred)**:

- Certified Welder (if welding is required).
- Fall Protection Training.
- Rigging and Signal Person Certification.
- Crane Signal Certification (if applicable).

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Strong understanding of construction safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Comfort working at height and in various weather conditions.
- Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
