Research Fellow

The Research Fellow will work under the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of NTU on aerodynamics optimization for eVTOL development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementation of commercial software to mesh, simulate, analyze, and optimize an eVTOL aircraft.- Conduct experiments, including aerodynamics measurements, flow visualization, and rotor tests, for numerical validation.- Analyze the acoustic signature of the eVTOL aircraft, e.g., rotor dynamics and airframe-wake interactions.- Support the other teams of the program, including but not limited to: (i) providing aerodynamic loadings for structural analyses; (ii) evaluating cooling and ventilation strategies for motor development; and (iii) deriving aerodynamics characteristics for flight dynamics and control algorithm.- Drafting of periodic progress reports for milestones review.- Co-mentoring of at least 1 Ph.D. student under the program.- Ad-hoc assistance to undergraduate final-year projects and Master’s students.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, or fields that relate to CFD.- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in English is compulsory.-
- Expertise in aerodynamics related topics, e.g., aerodynamics characteristics, aircraft shape optimization, aeroacoustics, flight control, flight dynamics, or rotor dynamics, more will be an advantage.-
- Knowledge in air/rotorcraft design and good publication track record is an advantage, but not mandatory.-
- Soft Skills:
- Good communication skills to support critical intellectual exchanges with members of different teams and and presentations to key stakeholders from diverse background.-
- Commitment and team-player mentality to ensure the successful delivery of the program.-
- Curiosity to learn and agility to internalize new topics quickly.-
