You will assist the Adjusting Team by providing support through extensive investigations to determine origin and cause of fires and explosion, primarily involving structures and determining the cause of fires.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Investigates site and provides expert testimony based on determination of the origin & cause of fires and relates findings in a clear and concise manner in reports, depositions and trials.
- Determines the origin and cause of the loss/claim under investigation and identifies any potential third-party responsibility for subrogation potential.
- Maintains required reporting commitments to client in accordance with standard procedures.
- Promotes and markets utilization of standard procedures in the insurance industry and within assigned territory.
- Serves as a liaison between the insurance industry and law enforcement/fire service personnel.
- Investigates losses/claims with illegal, fraudulent or subrogation aspects in accordance with assignment from client or assigned attorney representing insurer.
- Identifies and interviews all witnesses or involved persons who may possess information or knowledge pertaining to incident under investigation: motive, opportunity or any other information or evidence that may assist in concluding a factual and complete investigation.
- Maintains up-to-date information to existing laws to ensure that all investigations are conducted in a completely legal and ethical manner.

**Requirements**:

- Must be an experienced fire investigator
- To at least BEng Fire Engineering level
- With associated professional memberships
- At least 10 years of fire investigation and fire engineering experience
- Shore and marine based fire investigations an advantage for the position
- Expert witness experience an advantage for the position
- Experience in crisis management and loss prevention consulting
- A team leader capable of developing and mentoring a team of experts
