**Job Description
- What You'll Do**

The new Data Sponsor role for Anglo American’s Marketing Business will be accountable for implementing, operationalising, and promoting Group Data Policy, Vision and Strategy across the Marketing organisation and its considerable data assets. This role requires helping Marketing to continue to develop its data-driven culture for insightful decision making where data is treated as an asset, as well as raising the understanding and awareness of where and how data is critical for projects. Important elements of this include:

- Data organisation and capabilities
- Data Policy governance and compliance
- Data ownership and data management best practices
- Data technology and tooling
- Data Policy related funding requirements and projects

The role will report to the Marketing Executive Data Sponsor and will involve implementing and sustaining Group Data Policy set by the Group Chief Data Officer (CDO).

**Performance & Delivery**
- Develop a thorough understanding of Marketing’s key internal and external data producers and consumers / customers
- Manage 3rd party data providers, minimising overlap of data provision, minimising costs, establishing SLA’s, and therefore maximising the value of data provision to Anglo American and the Marketing businesses
- Develop a thorough understanding of Marketing’s requirements for data to service operations and project data requirements. Work with the various Marketing teams who consume this data to ensure the requirements for this data are understood, documented, and managed for existing improvement / upgrade projects, short and medium term objectives, and future state strategies
- Work with Marketing IM teams to ensure 3rd party data is extracted, processed, interfaces with internal systems, and stored efficiently (“1 source of the truth”), putting in place SLA’s with the internal users for the availability of the data to ensure it is complete, accurate, and timely and that the right data is available in the right place, in the right format, at the right time in order to meet the teams’ objectives with regards to processing, computations, calculations, and reporting
- Develop a thorough understanding of Group Data Policy and promote and champion this within Marketing
- Develop a good understanding of Marketing’s current and future systems / data architecture and how this supports the data strategy and key operational requirements of data consumers/producers
- Work with Marketing teams and leadership to align data related funding, projects and requests against strategic and operational priorities
- Work with Marketing teams and leadership to ensure that data governance and policy is implemented and embedded (e.g. data discovery and data access), including any supporting technology and tooling
- Work with Group Data Analytics functions to align Marketing with Group data related standards and structures
- Responsible for the implementation, adoption and ongoing compliance of Data Policy across Marketing
- Responsible for driving cultural and organisational change to create and sustain policy related data capabilities including digital and data literacy
- Align data needs with the burning ambition; identifying, initiating, and supporting the prioritisation of data activities related to data governance, data definitions, data quality, and data value

**People & Teams**
- Work with and provide recommendations to the Executive Data Sponsor on alignment of the data agenda and initiatives to Marketing business priorities
- Engage with and build relationships with Group Data Policy
- Act as the voice of the CDO on Data Policy within Marketing
- Influence senior stakeholders within Marketing to comply with Group Data Policy
- Become the Go-to/Trusted advisor for Marketing stakeholders on Data Policy and Governance
- Collaborate across business, IM and Digital teams to create alignment on a) implementation and adherence to Group Data Policy, Governance and related processes, and b) overall data strategy linked to key projects and initiatives
- Collaborate with IM Architecture function to understand and support architectural enhancements that will enable Marketing to sustainably deliver Marketing data use cases
- Establish and Chair the Marketing Data Governance Committee(s)
- Represent Marketing as the Data Sponsor at Group Data Governance committees
