**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assist in R&D projects and transfer to production.
- Support in the development of viable and cost effective processes for various Silicone monomers, acrylate and methacrylate materials.
- Preparation and Testing of raw material, in process material and finished product.
- Scale up of new process from laboratory to production (Tech transfer). Assist in the maintenance of R&D, production and quality documentation.
- Maintain day to day operation of the process equipment.
- Able to use QC equipment to support both R&D projects,production and QC requirements.
- Continuous overview of new/novel chemistry and developments for contact lenses.
**Position Requirements**:
- BSc/Honours degree in chemistry. Diploma with relevant experience will be considered.
- Knowledge in operating Ultrafiltration and Sterile Filtration Technology.
- Experience in acrylate and methacrylate monomer purification, analysis.
- Extensive experience in Short Path Distillation, Wiped Film Evaporation, Crystallisation and other separation processes. A strong interest and experience in kg quantity organic synthesis. The ability to meet deadlines for R&D projects
- Knowledge in handling Analytical equipment’s GPC, HPLC, GC.
- Hands on approach in problem solving and a willingness to work as part of a small team.
- Good computer skills
