Lead UX Designer

**What the role is**

**Job Overview**
You will be part of an agile team that is developing a product to improve the employee services within the Singapore public service.

As a UX designer, you are responsible for ensuring that the product is useful, usable and provides a good experience to users. You will work closely with other designers, engineers, and product managers to continuously deliver features that improve employee experience.

As this is a project design lead role, you will be expected to be involved in product strategy and planning sessions with other project leads, resource and timeline planning within the design team, team level design operations, and mentorship of junior designers.

This role sits with the UX team in Dcube (GDS). The office will be located at Eclipse Building (previously known as Sandcrawler).

**What You Will Be Working On**:
**Within your first month...**

You should have a good understanding of the product roadmap and vision, team rituals, design systems and processes. You should be able to take on research and design work, and provide technical guidance to junior designers.

**By the end of 3 months...**You should be very involved in all aspects of design work, have a good overview of the future, existing and backlog items. You should be communicating closely with other project leads and have a plan of how to ensure continuity of project level design strategy and maintain design excellence.

**Beyond that...**

You should constantly be mindful of the welfare and personal growth of designers on the team. You should also review and improve design operations and processes. You are expected to build and maintain professional relationships with other project leads, product owners and business users to facilitate seamless integration of design within the project.

**What We Are Looking For**:

- You have a deep understanding of the fundamentals of user centricity
- You are aware of state of design on the project/within the team and design strategies to continually improve things
- You work with stakeholders to plan ahead so that delivery milestones and product OKRs are met
- You can lead conversations with various product stakeholders to get buy-in on design initiatives
- You are able to clearly communicate and justify design decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders of all levels
- You are able to mentor designers on the team mínimally in the areas of user research and interaction design
- You are able to translate user research into design recommendations and findings
- You contribute to the design system, operations and ensure UI standards are met
- You are collaborative and willing to work with teammates and stakeholders to solve problems and resolve disagreements
- You find the quickest route to design, test, and ship a design prototype to validate a concept
- You are passionate about what you do
- You are willing to contribute and learn together with your teammates

**Preferred Skills**
- At least 5 years of professional experience in product design, working on end-to-end delivery. That would include experience in facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, user research, usability testing, envisioning flows, and delivering hi-fidelity mockups.
- Previous experience leading a team in UX design is strongly preferred. You may be considered for a senior position if applicable.
- Knowledge of data analytics, frontend development, illustration, content strategy are bonuses but not a must.
