As the firm grows there is a need to add a new role in the Asia time zone. The role will integrate two important aspects for the firm;
Helping to manage the risk for equity single names trading in the Asian time zone which currently includes Greater China and Japan with expansion to other countries in the near future.

1. Support risk processes for the whole firm across all asset classes and trading styles.

2. There are numerous other projects that we’d expect the individual to be able to pick up (in time), as the team is global in nature and not siloed by region.

Symmetry has a very flat hierarchy and the role will report to the Head of Risk Management based in London.

Market Knowledge

In addition, the primary focus of the role will be to provide a framework to understand and communicate both the aggregated and idiosyncratic risks of equity portfolios.

Programming Skills

The risk team uses an inhouse programming language which is relatively easy to pick up however decent programming skills are required. It should however be noted that this is not a dev role, and there is an expectation that core high value work would be passed on to a skilled developer.

The role will include support of the firm's global risk processes. Initially with the help and guidance from the rest of the team there is the expectation that the individual will learn how to fix problems on the fly after a short time at the firm.

Communication Skills

Symmetry is very much about collaboration. That means that everybody needs to have a flexible mindset. It is understood that an individual might not know every single detail for a project, so it is expected that they ask others to arrive at the best solution.

General Risk Support
- Learn how to manage and support the risk report runner process
- Learn to code in our in house scripting language
- Work with other risk managers to provide additional functionality to the limits framework as well as upgrade the current process
- Work with other risk managers to provide Asia time zone support to electronic trading platform limits and improvements to the platform

Equity Support
- Support equity business in Asia hours which might include
- Understanding the full trade flow front to back with help from other teams including Ops and Business Solutions
- Understanding (in detail) the equity trading limits process to be able to provide support in Asia time zone (with other risk managers)
- Suggest and implement improvements to the equity trading limits process

Nice to Have
- Suggest upgrades to the current equity risk framework
- Develop new ways to monitor risk taking across index rebal, single name and macro trading at the firm
