The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team, to work towards the goals set out for the projects of interest. The research engineer’s principal role will be to work on developing and evaluating the engineered bacteria for therapeutic functions, using Synthetic Biology tools.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
- Undertake these responsibilities in the project:

- Design, plan and conduct laboratory experiments, carry out data analyses, record the outcome of the experiments, and write up the results of own research as well as research progress with minimum supervision
- Communicate research outcomes through technical reports and presentations
- Assist in any other duties that are delegated by the Principal Investigator
- Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
- Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
- Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

**Job Requirements**:

- Have relevant competence in the areas of cell engineering or genetic engineering.
- Have a bachelor degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, biological science, life sciences, biochemistry or a related area. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous
- Having good knowledge of analytical tools and molecular biology techniques will be advantageous
