Inspectors who have competencies and certifications inclusive of two parts (1) demonstrated experienced by an independent certification scheme in the discipline of inspection being conducted; and (2) demonstrated experience in codes and standards, and general industry requirements applicable to the inspection event for the following equipment/material:

- Structural fabrication
- Electrical switchgears, transformers, generators
- Power compressors, pumps, and fired equipment
- Telecommunication systems and control stations
- Instrument devices and metering packages, analyzers
- Valves for process, utilities, and instrument
- Internal disconnect able turret mooring systems
- Heat exchangers
- Pipe spool fabrication, carbon, and alloys
- Flanged connections and associated materials and bolting
- Coating and insulation
- Pressure vessels and tanks

Inspectors’ minimum certification/competencies include but are not limited to the following requirements:
Welding inspectors shall hold current certification to any of the following standards as a minimum:

- CSWIP (TWI, UK) - Welding Inspector
- BGAS-CSWIP (TWI, UK) - Welding Inspector
- PCN (BINDT, UK) - Weld Inspection Level 2
- AWS QC1 (1996 or later edition) - Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

NDT inspectors certificated to the requirements of a written practice under the rules of SNT-TC-1A should be systematically verified that both the personnel certification and the Written Practice have been approved by an external, independent Level 3 who can be identified in the ASNT database.

NDT inspectors shall hold current Level 2 ASNT certification (or equivalent), specific to weld testing, for the appropriate NDT methods to any of the following standards as a minimum:

- CSWIP (TWI, UK)
- BGAS-CSWIP (TWI, UK)
- PCN (BINDT, UK)
- ASNT ACCP
- ASNT-TC-1A

Mechanical inspectors assigned to perform mechanical inspection activities shall have documented and demonstrated competency in the form of working knowledge of API, ASNT, and ASME applicable standards, and shall have documented experience (minimum of 2 years) demonstrating competency to perform the Services.

Coating inspectors assigned to inspect coating and insulation Services shall have a current or previous National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level II certification, and a minimum of five years documented experience demonstrating competency performing coating inspections.

Piping inspectors assigned to perform piping inspection activities shall have documented and demonstrated competency in the form of working knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, API 1104, and API 570 applicable standards for inspection, and shall have documented experience demonstrating competency performing the Services.

Piping inspectors for Pressure Bolted Flange Joint Assembly shall have documented and demonstrated competency in the form of working knowledge of ASME PCC-1 and API 570 applicable standards for inspection, and qualification minimum requirements for bolted flange inspection per Appendix A of PCC-1 corresponding to Senior Bolting Specialist.

Electrical inspectors shall have documented and demonstrated competency in the form of working knowledge of IEC 60079 applicable standards and shall have documented experience demonstrating competency performing the Services.

Instrument and control inspectors shall have demonstrated competency in the form of IEC and applicable soldering standards such as: IPC-A-610D for Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies (certified IPC specialist); including handling and storage of electronic equipment.
