DESIGNATION : Cloud FinOps Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES
Back in 2019, NE Digital started to introduce the practice of FinOps for Public Cloud management, now we have expanded the practice to also cover all aspects of infrastructure cost management. As NE Digital has adopted a “cloud-first” strategy, we need to improve our processes in workload management as the procurement of resources in the cloud is not done by the Finance team alone, as in the past, but by cloud Engineers. Adopting FinOps principles helped us to create visibility of our cloud spend, optimize our resource usage and longer term commitments to get discounted rates for our workloads. We acknowledge that FinOps is a relatively new concept, but our goal is to find a cloud engineer with awareness of cloud cost and train this person to become a FinOps champion with work towards being a Certified FinOps Practitioner from the FinOps Foundation.
- Manage cost visibility of all public cloud platforms
- Monitor Cloud spend and create budget alerts
- Conduct monthly reports and review of Cloud spend.
- Manage cloud commitments (saving plan, RI, CUD)
- Facilitate Good Received for cloud invoices
- Identify unused resources and schedule decommissioning
- Optimize existing resources by rightsizing instances
- Optimize architecture by migrating to scalable resources
- Define the FinOps framework and roadmap
- Support Finance for budgeting forecast and Enterprise agreements with providers
- Become the bridge between Finance and Cloud engineers
- Become the bridge between FinOps foundation and NTUC
- Advocate FinOps principles in day to day operations

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant fields
- At least 4 years experience in public cloud management
- Have good experience in AWS or GCP
- Certified professional in AWS or GCP is a plus
- Good understanding of AWS organisation
- Good understanding of Instance types for AWS and GCP
- Good understanding of cost drivers for cloud resources
- Capable to consolidate data and deliver aggregate view/report
- Understanding of pricing models for cloud resources
- Possess moderate verbal and written communication skills to work effectively withtechnical and nontechnical personnel at various levels in the organization
