**The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?**

The process relies on your creativity to gather needed information, draw business insights, and turn those insights into cohesive and flexible strategies that meet evolving customer expectations. **It would involve hands-on cloud platform architecture at large enterprises with vast, heterogeneous platform landscape that spans multiple technology generations. The goal is to deliver high-quality, reliable and scalable outcomes in the cloud modernization space.**

Short (hours, days or a handful of weeks) engagements mean an exciting, fast-paced set of conversations where you will uplevel your people and process management skills while sharpening your storytelling capacities. Short engagements also mean a lot of iteration - a unique opportunity to practice your craft, help shape our team’s template for success, and develop your eye for patterns in the industry.

**Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**
- You’ll work closely with your peers right from the start to understand and iterate on our practices to make them more impactful, repeatable, and scalable as our team grows.
- Within 30 days, you’ll understand the VMware and related platforms and products used by our customers.
- Within two months, you’ll join a team of Program Strategists and other Solution Architects on a customer engagement. You’ll interview customer engineers, run automated analysis tools, and help the team make decisions based on the data you collect. You’ll get “hands on” with existing DevOps pipelines and platforms to improve and/or modernize it in order to prove the value of our software and solutions.

**The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?**

While every customer engagement is different, you can expect a variety of the following:

- Be part of short and impactful projects - from a few hours to six weeks (at most) - focused on helping customers determine and prove first viable steps in complex scenarios.
- Be facilitating workshops, using agile techniques to understand system and platform design and plan future state landing zone and platform topologies.
- Create documentation and playbooks capturing concrete tactical patterns for modernizing large complex software systems that involve many teams, technologies, and platforms.
- Lead internal initiatives that improve our delivery tooling and methodologies.
- Contribute back to the VMware team through mentorship, giving talks, and experience reports.
- Help with pre-sales, conferences and cloud technology evangelism as time permits.

**Which previous experiences, skills, backgrounds do we want to see from you?**

We want to see some of below knowledge, experiences, skills from you:

- 10+ years of platform architecture, engineering and management experience
- You are a great written and verbal communicator, capable of public speaking and presenting in front of customers, at user groups, etc.
- Deep and broad knowledge of VMware private, hybrid and public cloud technologies
- Have architected and/or operated complex production software systems
- Knowledge of and operational experience with methodologies related to agile and DevOps
- Analytical ability, problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps
- Demonstrated ability to initiate change across large enterprises including strategy and adoption of platforms, processes and modernization initiatives
- Active participant collaborating with peers to drive delivery consistency
- Experience in training, mentoring and/or upskilling others
- Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) tools
- Up to 50% travel expected in this role
- Ability to Work from Home until sufficient resolution of the COVID-19 Crisis
