**Director, REDD+ Policy**

** - This position is preferably based in Singapore. Other locations: Japan (remote) or Australia (remote).**

The NCS Policy Director will implement long-term public policy and government engagement strategies, programs, and initiatives to support the achievement of CI’s policy goals. Focus will be on influencing the design of international and domestic climate policy frameworks - including but not limited to carbon market, jurisdictional REDD+, and nesting policies.

In addition to working closely with colleagues in CPI, They will work collaboratively with the Moore Center for Science andSolutions, Center for Oceans, Nature Finance Group and country programs to formulate and champion innovative strategies,programs, and initiatives that engage key governments and stakeholders (e.g., NGOs, UN bodies, aid agencies, developmentbanks, philanthropies, corporate partners) to effectively inform and influence policy.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Working in close coordination with CPI colleagues and with inputs from other CI teams as needed, implement strategies to advance CI policy priorities. Specifically, this position will:

- In coordination with CPI colleagues and local CI teams, develop policy recommendations and implement strategies to influence the design of NCS policy frameworks in priority countries globally and in the region to facilitate demand for anddelivery of carbon credits from natural climate solutions with particular focus on policies related to REDD+ nesting,Jurisdictional REDD+, carbon rights, national authorization processes for participating in carbon markets (Article 6,CORSIA, compliance vs VCM rules) and domestic market design.
- Support the development of policy-related training and materials and delivery of such training on REDD+ and NCS policy enabling conditions.
- Advise private sector partners on NCS policy matters as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between CPI and CI teams in the region working on other policy matters including oceans and biodiversity.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Significant travel in Asia region and beyond (at least 30%).
- This position follows a hybrid work structure, working some days from the office and some remotely. Guidance will be shared during the interview process.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Required**
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, international affairs, conservation science, or a development-related field.
- 7 or more years of direct experience in developing and managing non-profit public policy initiatives in the climate space, ideally REDD+, nesting, and carbon market policies.
- Established relationships in the climate change policy community.
- Excellent understanding of the overall policy engagement environment, including understanding of policy processes and strategy for influencing them.
- Demonstrated track record of effective partnership building. Proven ability to engage external partners and stakeholders in governments, bilateral and multilateral institutions, development organizations, and NGOs.
- Strong organization, project management, and prioritization skills. Ability to meet deadlines and manage time and diverse activities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including with remote teams. Experienced and confident at high-level meetings, panels, conferences, workshops, events, and presentations.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills (English). Ability to effectively communicate complex information to a diverse audience.
- Fluency in a second language would be beneficial (Japanese, Khmer, Spanish, French, Portuguese).

- Familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
