Reimagine a Play-to-Earn Metaverse, where the virtual and real world converge
Affyn is a blockchain-powered Metaverse project with a Free-to-Play, Play-to-Earn mobile game that integrates the best of both the virtual world and the real world. Utilising geolocation technology, augmented reality ("AR") mechanics and blockchain technology such as non-fungible tokens ("NFT"), Affyn aims to create an ecosystem that is fun and practical, both virtually and in real life.
As a Lead/Senior Client Engineer, you will be integral to building the foundation of NEXUS, working closely with the Technical Director, Lead Server Engineer and game design team to assess and document game concepts and mechanics that will be shared with our external development partners. You will also communicate and collaborate with external development partners to ensure the code is built to the required quality.
You will also be part of a group of pioneers that will build and lead an internal development studio as a middle to long term plan, as part of Affyn’s expansion.
**Responsibilities**:
Work closely with Technical Director and Lead Server Engineer to document and build the foundation of the NEXUS game world
To assess and verify feasibility of game-mechanic functionality for physics, combat, multiplayer, characters, cameras, and controls, and lay out a development plan
Work closely with 3rd party developers in game and feature development
Work with the Game Director and Technical Director to create technical requirements and hiring roadmaps
Identify and set best coding practices that others can follow
Suggest and implement improvements for performance and reliability
Write and maintain technical documentation
Research new tools, techniques, and processes
Debugging and optimising the games' performance and memory
Build and manage a team of coders
Skills and Requirements
Strong programming experience across multiple projects as a Senior Programmer or higher role
3 - 5 years of professional experience working on a live game and or free-to-play game
Ability to prototype as well as produce final code
Able to create technical and hiring roadmaps
Worked across all life cycles of game development - concept, pre-production, production, live etc.
Desire to make the leap to becoming a senior leader within a studio and help with its long-term growth.
