About the team you are joining
Reporting to the Deputy Director General and Corporate Secretary, the Regional Vice President, Asia‐Pacific will be responsible for the management of all of IATA’s activities in the region, with full strategic and financial accountability. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse multi-cultural team.
What your day would be like
- Acting as IATA’s General Manager for the region, including defining, managing and providing strategic direction, guidance and leadership for IATA’s activities and initiatives in the region, in accordance with Board and Industry priorities.
- Overseeing the quality of IATA’s activities in the region, and ensuring global standards are upheld.
- Promoting a one IATA approach for all matters in the region.
- Building relationships and acting as IATA’s representative with senior members of airlines, governments, airports and other key industry stakeholders in the region, whilst ensuring that proper account management processes are followed.
- Ensuring effective and excellent engagement with IATA’s Commercial Products & Services Division to assist in sales & marketing, market research and new product development. Driving the realisation of shared Commercial goals and targets.
- Leading the Asia Pacific Regional Leadership Team (RLT).
- Supporting and enabling the Regional Heads of the different business units in their day-to-day activities, and the achievement of their key priorities and objectives.
- Maintaining direct responsibility for regional compliance, including legal, fiscal, statutory accounting, payroll, business planning and reporting, internal policies and procedures, IT efficiency, procurement and administrative processes, with the support of the Regional Head, Corporate Services, Asia-Pacific and in full alignment with established global IATA standards and procedures.
- Promoting employee understanding of, and alignment with, IATA’s corporate values, priorities and strategies throughout the region, including the development of a coherent internal communications plan.
- Ensuring effective communication, collaboration and operations between Head, Region and Country offices.
- Maintaining strong media relationships and developing, in close cooperation with IATA’s Corporate Communications department, a coherent IATA communications strategy.
- Monitoring and reporting on aero‐political, economic and commercial developments in the region, taking or recommending actions that are consistent with IATA’s policies and objectives.
- Maintaining accountability for the primary regional relationships with external and internal audit organisations, in full compliance with established IATA directives.
- Ensuring, tracking and reporting on member satisfaction, as well as IATA’s progress in addressing Asia Pacific’s airlines’ needs and priorities.
- Ensuring the effective management of IATA’s offices in the region.
- Ensuring that the region’s Country Managers deliver on their targets and priorities, and that they address key issues appropriately, whilst adopting the One IATA approach in their dealings with airlines, governments and all other industry stakeholders.
- Leading the regional implementation of IATA’s major global projects and priorities.

- You have a minimum of 20 years of experience in the airline industry, with at least 10 years of experience at the senior executive level.
- Track record of success in high‐visibility leadership positions at the international level.
- Outstanding leadership and management experience in a high‐pressure, multicultural and international environment.
- A university degree in a relevant discipline would be well-regarded.
- Excellent networking, team‐building and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate large teams and to foster collaboration across functional and cultural lines.
