Roles & Responsibilities

The incumbent shall be responsible to undertake research and development work, particularly in the area of extraction of material from botanical products. This will require experience and skill in utilizing various technology in undertaking his or her role to meet company’s objectives.

The role shall work closely with key senior personnel and management in understanding the needs of the company and meeting timelines in producing desired research results. The main duties of the incumbent can be summarized as follows:
**RESPONSIBLITIES;**
- Performing extraction of material or materials from botanical products by various methods
- Optimization of extraction methods, purification of separated components and their analysis
- Analysis of isolated compounds and interpretation of the obtained results
- Keeping the necessary documentation (logs, reports, etc.) in orderly manner on the work carried out
- Selection or development of analytical methods for determining the physicochemical and technical properties of substances and the improvement of these methods
- Performing physicochemical and technical tests of raw materials, semi-finished products and products
- Maintaining a database of raw materials and samples and its updating
- Proper care and usage of equipment and the workplace, including maintenance of equipment to ensure proper calibration of equipment
- Compliance with health and safety rules, fire safety and internal regulations
**REQUIREMENTS;**
- Diploma / Degree in chemistry or related study
- Knowledgeable in the chemical analysis
- Experience in extracting compounds from plant material by various techniques (cold extraction, supercritical fluid extraction, solvent extraction, steam distillation)
- Knowledgeable in use of various laboratory equipment including spectrometers and spectrophotometers
- Experience in conducting research work independently
- Proper and accurate record keeping of all tests and experiments performed and ensuring timely reporting
- Good computer skills (MS Office)
- Ability to work in a team, creative thinking in resolving issues, diligent in work attitude, and accurately capture data
- Able to organize work in a systematic manner, responsible attitude, honesty in the implementation of assigned tasks, reliable and committed in undertaking assigned tasks
- Able to work under time pressure and to withstand stress
