Singapore Informa Connect Full time

**Company Description**
We’re part of Informa, a global business with a network of trusted brands in specialist markets across more than 30 countries, and a member of the FTSE 100. Our purpose is to connect our customers to information and people that help them know more, do more and be more. No other company in the world helps more people share professional knowledge or make business connections. We run around 800 events each year, create digital platforms based on engaging news and information content, and operate professional development programmes for individuals and businesses

Informa Markets, a division within Informa, creates global platforms for industries. We organise over 500 large-scale branded and transaction-oriented events in 14 specialist markets. These are typically not-to-be-missed annual events where buyers and sellers build relationships, see and show products and do business.

We also provide year-round online platforms where companies showcase their businesses and products and buyers conduct research, generating valuable leads, and we provide data and digital content that supports the flow of knowledge and transactions in markets.

Informa Global Markets (IGM) is seeking a Junior Rates Market Analyst to join our Asia-Pacific Rates desk in Singapore. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to our real-time market analysis and commentary across fixed income, FX, and related markets.

**WHO WE ARE**

The Asia-Pac Rates desk of IGM provides on-the-spot research, commentary, and analysis of fixed income, FX, equities, major commodity markets, and notable economic events in Asian hours, with a focus on major regional economies such as China, Japan, and Australia.

We have analysts spanning Singapore, Tokyo, and Shanghai, although this opening is Singapore-based.

**WHAT WE DO**

On a regular basis, we write on market moves across specific assets (mainly government/corporate bonds and FX), while also assembling previews and reviews of events such as major data releases, government announcements, political developments, central bank announcements, government bond auctions, and ratings actions.

On a more ad-hoc basis, we write on matters relevant to the macro outlook such as derivative flows across fixed income and FX markets, noteworthy and relevant alternative data, and political/international developments.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Write on specific topics (e.g. Treasuries, USD/JPY, a specific data release, moves in commodities, major breaking news etc.). The amount of writing varies based on personal ability, as well as the needs of the business.
- Putting together of daily wraps summarising market moves across fixed income and/or FX markets.
- Aid in the writing and publication of other pieces relevant to financial markets - some cross-country collaboration may be required in some instances.

**WHAT YOU WILL LEARN**
- Familiarity and ability to write about fixed income and/or FX markets in a clear, concise, and market-friendly manner (e.g. analysis of sovereign bond auctions, corporate bond issuance, ratings actions, and other related topics).
- Familiarity with the regular routine of financial market operations relevant to fixed income and FX markets (bond buybacks, bond issuance slates etc.)
- Familiarity with central bank operations across the Bank of Japan (BOJ), the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ). There will be scope for work on other Asia-Pac central banks, depending on ability.
- Familiarity and ability to write on events important to the economic/financial calendars of major Asia-Pac countries (e.g. Australia’s Budget, China’s “Two Sessions”, BOJ’s quarterly Tankan etc.).
- Technical analysis to forecast trends in financial markets.
- Note that proficiency in commentary/analysis of both fixed income and FX markets will eventually be essential as the job requires analysts to cover one another in the event of absences.

**Qualifications**
Required:

- Ability to write accurately, concisely, and quickly (in English).
- A professional standard of grammar.
- An eye for detail - the more particular you are, the better
- Ability to be punctual and keep to timings very strictly.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently (while we can provide training on financial markets and writing styles, we expect you to own your targets and be a contributing member of the team as soon as feasible - with scope to carve out your own niche re: research/commentary eventually)

Preferred:

- Bachelors in related field (economics and/or finance).
- Demonstrated preference for reading and/or writing widely.
- This job is more than just a pure focus on financial market movements, and an interest in current affairs will help immensely.

**Additional Information**

Our benefits include:

- ** Freedom & flexibility**: colleagues rate us highly for the flexibility and trust they receive and most of us
