Singapore SHIOK MEATS PTE. LTD. Full time

Shiok Meats is looking for a Seafood stem cell Research Scientist to be a crucial part of the cultivated seafood department. You will be a key player in the team to build and develop a world-class cultivated meat team, from formulation to commercialization.

**Required background**:

- PhD in Biology/Life Sciences or related field with more than 3 years of cell culture experience.

**Preferred experience**:

- Embryonic stem (ES) cell isolation and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell derivation are preferred.
- Invertebrate/shellfish/seafood cell culture and characterization.
- Cell culture of satellite cells or myoblasts.
- Strong experience in cell line characterization including cloning, qPCR, DNA/RNA sequencing, FACS, immunofluorescence, and Microscopy.

**Responsibilities**:

- Derivation of ES, iPS, primary and multipotent stem cell lines from crustaceans, seafood, and invertebrates.
- Cell line development by CRISPR and/or other genetic engineering techniques.
- Develop and optimize DNA, RNA, and Protein based molecular tools and or cell-based assays to characterize cell lines.
- Differentiate crustacean/seafood/invertebrate pluripotent stem cells into muscle stem cells, muscle fibers, and adipocytes.
- Sourcing of embryonic or early developmental stages of crustaceans and seafood from farmers, research institutes or other sources.
- Maintain cells in culture including routine media exchange, harvest, and sampling.
- Establish internal and external quality control tests and partners to align with regulations requirements.
- Identify and meet with external vendors and resources where appropriate and oversee external projects required to accomplish project goals.
- Rigorous documentation of experimental procedures and data.
- Communicate results and data in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide guidance to junior team members or associates.
- Monitor and work with the stem cell teams in Singapore and Thailand
- Manage lab, equipment, and ordering of consumables.

- Have strong communication skills including verbal, written, and scientific data presentation to a variety of audiences
- Interest to lead an expanding research team
- Able to work collaboratively within and outside of the group
