Reporting to the Hotel Manager with functional reporting to the Cluster Director of Engineering, the Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the Hotel, its facilities and guest rooms to ensure that a high standard of upkeep and maintenance is upheld at all times. He also oversees, supervises and ensure timely completion of any alteration and addition works, major replacement of equipment, preventive maintenance, including tenancy works of the building.
- Plan and direct the execution of preventive maintenance and repair schedules of all machinery, equipment and facilities and see to the proper execution by employee staff or external agencies or contractors.
- Execution of administrative duties such as inventory management, record keeping of engineering work / repair, etc.
- Ensure practice of good housekeeping standard of the engineering workshop and that all safety procedures and rules are adhered to.
- Manage Engineering outsourced contractor and vendors to ensure that works are completed in accordance to Hotel and/or Regulatory standards and requirements.
- Work with procurement to obtain quotations for all the necessary works by external agencies / contractors and for all necessary purchases from suppliers. Provide functional expertise and advice to ensure that quotes are aligned to Hotel and Regulatory specifications and requirements.
- Plan and prepare the annual Engineering budget. Regularly review budget spends and ensure controls are put in place to effectively manage cost.
- Monitor and track utilities consumption and champion energy conservation initiatives and plans. Keep abreast of latest sustainability trends and suggest improvements and new programmes.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety practices within the premise.
- Coach and guide department Associates to ensure that they provide a high standard of engineering services which meets the expectations of the building owner / tenants / guests / shoppers.
- Prepare the duty roster of maintenance staff to ensure effective deployment and use of resources. Assign building operation and engineering works/duties and monitor progress.
- Conduct daily Associate briefing and monthly meetings to ensure that every Associate if kept updated and informed.
