Singapore Acre Full time

Are you an experienced policy and public affairs professional, motivated by seeing the impact of your work play out? You're possibly in a large organisation with a mature regulatory and advocacy strategy, but maybe you're feeling ready for the next step; confident of your ability to create more impact and change in a growing sustainable industry?

Perhaps you're also looking to be a part of a business in the early stages of their ambitious journey, but one that puts people and sustainability at the core of what they do with a unique technology that will positively change the packaging and plastics industry as we know it?

If this sounds like you, then we have the perfect role for you. You will be:

- Working directly and through strategic partners, building influence with key governmental & industry stakeholders across the region to develop an understanding of the technology and appreciation for how it can supplement the current circular economy, plastics, and packaging policies
- Developing relationships with industry bodies, NGOs, and other influential third parties to support the company's policy goals
- Supporting the commercial teams to identify opportunities in South-East Asian markets and forge partnerships with companies further down the value chain
- Think creatively about designing and executing non-traditional policy campaigns that enable the business to engage with industry leaders and regulators
- Be a leading expert on the regional policy landscape and a go-to source of expertise both internally and externally
- Oversee activities in advance of commercial initiatives and partnerships, including developing research collaborations and investment activities

Our client is an innovative, privately owned biodegradable plastics business that has created a breakthrough, propriety formulation for plastics - called Biotransformation - which ensures that plastic can fully biodegrade if it enters the natural terrestrial environment.

On the back of its technical excellence, the company has formed strategic global commercial partnerships with a diverse group of businesses and enterprises. South-East Asia will be a strategic region for growth and influence for the business and this hire will play a pivotal role in establishing and embedding the technology to deliver widespread sustainable impact for the region.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in shaping policies that affect the commercial success of a business or an industry
- A track record of building meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders in regional markets to shape a regulatory landscape, ideally within the field of the circular economy e.g. policymakers, standards bodies, trade associations, corporate partners, NGOs, etc
- Understanding of the South-East Asian circular economy, environment, and sustainability agenda or experience of working with innovative, sustainable technology in the region
- Drive and motivation to create impact and change
- A creative and solution-driven approach to challenges
- Excellent written and oral communications in English, with fluency in one or more of Mandarin, Malay, Thai, and Filipino a bonus
