Position Summary:
Illumina’s world-leading microarray and next generation DNA sequencing (NGS) platforms are revolutionizing industries such as healthcare, life sciences, forensics, agriculture and clinical research. As Illumina grows, there is a need for scientists who can contribute to the development of novel, cutting edge genomics products.

Position Responsibilities:
As a Scientist 2 of the Assay R&D team, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to execute the design and development of novel, cutting edge assays for Illumina sequencing and/or microarray platforms. You will leverage your experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, analytical chemistry or biochemical engineering to determine the critical parameters for reagents function, stability, and assay performance.

To work as part of the Assay R&D (Singapore) team:
**Responsibilities**:

- Engage in cross-functional collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams to accelerate the development of novel reagents and assays used across Illumina NGS and/or microarray platforms.
- Ownership of 1 or more assigned project deliverables
- Design, plan and execute experiments high levels of efficiency at subteam level for assigned scope of work
- Communicate results and conclusions to aid in decision-making at team and project levels.
- Maintain good lab and documentation practices.
- Upkeep of lab equipment, laboratory supplies and good housekeeping
- Write technical reports and communicate effectively to local leadership
- Supervise and assign tasks to a small team of 1 or more of junior scientists

Position Requirements:

- Minimum PhD. with 2+ years laboratory experience in a relevant field such as life sciences, biochemistry, biochemical/chemical engineering or equivalent is required
- MSc with 3+ years of relevant experience may apply
- Proven track record of innovative, collaborative R&D with productive outcomes
- In-depth working knowledge and hands-on experience with NGS library preparation
- Demonstrated expertise in various molecular biology and analytical techniques eg. quantitative PCR, optical/fluorescence microscopy, electrophoresis, liquid chromatography, activity assays, cell culture, nucleic acid isolation.
- Strong collaborator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deliverables within project timelines
- Ability to adapt to business needs in a rapidly changing, fast paced industry

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:

- Previous work experience in biochemical, pharma, chemical or equivalent industries
- Experience with IVD and/or RUO product development
- Experience with NGS workflows including bioinformatics data processing
- Experience with automated workflows
- Understanding of protein biochemistry, engineering and structure
- Experience with leading small technical teams
