About the role

As the Database Engineer you will be the go-to person to design, implement and maintain our relational database systems for performance and reliability. You will be responsible for building and tuning our database to implement and better new and existing solutions as well as support the business team to ensure a robust data pipeline for intelligence reporting.

**Responsibilities**:
**SQL Database Management**: Own and manage our databases, including but not limited to optimising existing tables, creating pivot tables, and generating documents to enhance data flow efficiency.

**Process Documentation**: Document processes related to database design, configuration, and performance, ensuring comprehensive and organized records.

**PHP Development & Solutioning**: Implementation of new APIs within PHP Laravel, lead the backend solutioning for new feature requests from the PM

**Test Writing**: Write PHP tests to ensure the reliability and functionality of developed systems.

**Bug Resolution**: Utilize investigation skills to accurately identify and resolve root problems related to bugs in the system.

**Quality Control**: Maintain a strong focus on quality control throughout the development and implementation phases.
Who you are

2+ years of experience in SQL database management

Comfortable working with quantifiable OKRs and in a fast-paced, dynamic, often times chaotic startup environment

Curiosity about business - you are an engineer that also likes to understand the commercial side of the problems you solve

**Preferred Skills**:
**JavaScript Proficiency**: Experience with JavaScript, ideally with knowledge of React or React-Native.

**Team Collaboration**: Previous experience working effectively in a remote engineering team, fostering a collaborative and communicative environment.

**Autonomous Work**: Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative and self-driven productivity.
