**What an Ink Chemist does at HP?**
- Acquire knowledge and provide on-going Engineering contributions to the Ink Plant in Tuas, Singapore. The Inks we manufacture are used in HP Large Format Production platforms.
- Will be part of a team consisting of chemists and product/process/equipment/writing system engineers, with the responsibilities to ensure product quality & availability, qualify raw materials/process/formulation changes and new product introductions.
- Acquire knowledge on Ink Chemistry from raw materials to finished ink product.
- Understand materials, process, and equipment interactions on the resultant chemistry of finished product and ink chemistry requirements for printing performance.
- Collaborate with product/process engineers for ink characterization/margins study, product FMEA and process HAZOP.
- Be proficient and/or develop models and analytical procedures to further the understanding and performance of HP inks and interactions with printhead, supplies and media.
- Define and implement chemical and process analysis and test plans to evaluate formulations and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Work with product/process engineers on root cause analysis on issues with regards to quality of the inks.
- Work with material/product engineers on raw materials qualification and issue investigation.
- Participates as a member of ink chemist community and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions.
- Will be working in partnership with San Diego team on the deliverables hence, ability to travel to US for short periods when required.
**Individual who does well in this role in HP, usually possess**:
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Material Engineering & related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a high technology manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Experienced with and understanding of chemistry concepts, practices, and laboratory procedures.
- Proven strong problem solving, analytical skill & growth mindset.
- Strong understanding and experience in designing chemical formulations and processes and associated production tooling and processes.
- Ability to effectively communicate process architectures and product formulations, design proposals and negotiate options at management level.
- Possesses strong teamwork and ability to collaborate, communicate across geographies, levels, and functions.
