Extra-Ordinary People is a charity and Institute of Public Character (IPC) striving to enable and support persons with special needs. We adopt an ecosystem approach towards enabling and empowering children and youth with special needs to live independently, be work ready, work able and sustain employment. We strongly believe in providing a holistic support, including and involving parents/caregivers in the process.
Working in close collaboration with other professionals (therapists from other domains, job coaches, counsellors etc.), we are looking for dynamic and passionate Art Therapists to join our team in journeying with these youths and their families through their lives.
Main responsibilities:
- To provide an art psychotherapy service for children with special needs, structured in groups and individual sessions.
- Ability to devise assess, formulate art psychotherapy intervention, treatment, review and discharge clients.
- To provide reports communicated in a skilled and sensitive manner to parents and caregivers with respect to assessment, formulation and treatment planning.
- To work closely with the Principal Art Psychotherapist and multidisciplinary team to contribute to the development and enhancement of programmes delivered at Extra-Ordinary
- To maintain and develop the highest standards of practice, through active participation in continuing professional development and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in art therapy/art psychotherapy in areas related to the post.
- Maintain Registration with ANZACATA
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintains art materials stock and equipment in usable condition and at sufficient quantities.
- To participate in and contribute to clinical audit and service evaluation with colleagues within the service, to help evaluate and improve service provision and develop appropriate reports as required as negotiated with the multi-disciplinary team.
- To complete incident reporting in accordance with the policies of the charity.
- Assists in procurement procedures for art psychotherapy tock and equipment.
- To participate in regular clinical professional supervision.
- To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues of relevance to child, data protection and ethical practices.
- To promote and develop positive and productive/effective working relationships with other multidisciplinary team members.
Job Requirement
- 2-3 year experience working with children with special needs
- Masters degree in Art Psychotherapy from an accredited university
- Willingness to learn, to be able to render assistance and support, problem solve and execute
- Positive attitude
- Able to multi-task and coordinate well with multiple vendors and departments
