The BBC News website is one of the world’s largest and most popular news sites. It has mobile and desktop editions for different geographic audiences, and UK-facing and International-facing apps. Digital teams work closely with other BBC platforms and services to showcase the best journalism from across the BBC.

The BBC News digital team in Asia produce a bespoke front page for web and mobile, specially curated for audiences in the region. It includes pages for Asia, China, India and Australia. Content produced by the website’s Asian teams is used across all other editions of the BBC News website and on the BBC homepages.

Main Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for the day-to-day reporting on Asian and global news events and issues. You will come up with new and imaginative angles on major stories whilst devising creative ways of telling stories on our digital platforms.

An important part of the role is being able to navigate social media platforms to source stories and perspectives as well as maintaining knowledge of the region and contacts.

Central to the role is the ability to think up imaginative and innovative ways of presenting stories for our digital platforms with social media expertise and experience of social newsgathering from the wide variety of platforms popular across Asia

You will need a clear sense of how to integrate social media, video and graphics into our coverage and an understanding of how mobile devices are transforming storytelling.

Fluency in a regional language is an advantage
