**A purpose-driven opportunity**:
Site reliability engineering is a term that was first coined by Google, where it is described as "when you treat operations as if it's a software problem." The main purpose of SRE is developing software systems and automated solutions for operational aspects. Thus, SRE does the work traditionally done by operations but instead using engineers with software expertise to solve complex problems. In general, SRE team is responsible for high-availability, low-latency, scalability, high-performance, change and release management, observability, SLA's, SLO's and capacity planning of production and non-production environments.

**A day in life of SRE Engineer**:

- Embrace Site Reliability Engineering principles of proactivity, automation, cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decision making, and fast + safe failover to continually improve technology
- Experience with APM and Monitoring Tools
- Design, automate and maintain a secure DevSecOps platform(CI/CD/CT) in a hybrid cloud environment using the IaC stack. (Ansible/Terraform/CloudFormation or similar) in lower environments
- Build and maintain automated pipelines for UAT and Production environments.
- Design and build observability, monitoring and logging in all environments
- Design and build deployment strategies to achieve zero downtime during roll-outs.
- Design and build Incident management, release management and change management processes.
- Uses technical knowledge, creativity, and company practices to drive down occurrences of incidents through the development of proactive monitoring and alerting.
- Provide attention to incidents according to Service Level Agreements.
- Provide continuous feedback to development teams on system stability, defect analysis and system enhancements
- Participate in technical discussions and drive the transition to sustain activities with the development teams
- Work with IT business and development partners to gather input to develop new capabilities in displaying/monitoring/alerting on key performance indicators (KPIs) by tracking business transactions (BT) in real-time.
- Take ownership and accountability for the incident resolution process, participating in RCA and SWAT investigations.
- Plan for validation and verification of changes deployed by infrastructure teams and development teams.
- Participate in day-to-day real-time advanced level technical support and troubleshooting on issues reported from user/customer base.
