**The Opportunity**

The Assistant Manager is a part of Gentco Logistic’s Global IT Department, which is directly overseen by the Group’s CIO. Our team currently comprises of over 40 IT, software, and data professionals. In 2024, the Singapore office joined our Shanghai (China) and Moerdijk (The Netherlands) offices as the third global IT headquarter office, with an emphasis on data management and operations. As an assistant manager on our data team, you will assist the deputy general manager of IT in managing the verticals of data engineering and data analytics.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead BI delivery across Gentco’s two core business units through well-structured data marts, dashboards, and internal training.
- Act as the primary data contact for global stakeholders, especially executives, translating business needs into clear, actionable reporting.
- Support day-to-day execution for the Singapore data team; surface risks and opportunities during weekly syncs with the team manager.
- Contribute hands-on to our Azure-based stack (SQL Server, Databricks, dbt, PowerBI); provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Define and enforce standards for data quality, security, and governance across the entire pipeline.
- Maintain strong documentation practices and encourage knowledge sharing across teams.

**Requirements**:

- 2+ years of professional experience in maritime logistics or a related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in data/BI roles
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, PowerBI, and Python
- Comfortable communicating across technical and non-technical audiences; able to translate business needs into data solutions.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin is highly desirable to effectively liaise with Chinese-speaking clients and counterparts, understanding their technical requirements.

**Desirable Qualities**:

- Demonstrated ability in modern ELT data engineering (ADF/dbt/Databricks/Snowflake)
- Experience with master data management (MDM) using modern tools, ideally at a global scale and/or in a cloud environment.
