Are you a person who is proactively identifying market opportunities that cater to environmentally conscious consumers and businesses, actively manage potential risks associated with sustainability claims and market volatility, and build strategic partnerships with key players in the sustainable commodities sector to access new markets and expertise while mitigating risks and enhancing sustainability impact? **The Opportunity**
**AECO Energy** is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Commodities Manager to lead our Environmental Commodities Group and offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing industry.
**The Role**
**Reporting Line**
- The Environmental Commodities Manager will be based in our Singapore headquarters.
- Reports to the Energy Markets Manager.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. **Environmental Commodities Leadership & Management**
- **Group Leadership**
- Lead and develop the Environmental Commodities Group, setting strategic direction and growth initiatives in this evolving sector.
- **Global Sourcing, Purchasing & Supplier Relationship Management**
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality environmental commodities that meet regulatory and customer requirements.
- Source, build, and maintain long-term supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to ensure cost-effective procurement and contractual compliance.
- **Redemption & Inventory Coordination**
- Coordinate with the Team Leader to manage and update the inventory of environmental commodities using Mercury, our proprietary inventory and management system.
- Develop strategies to optimize the commodities portfolio and mitigate risks associated with expiry and market fluctuations.
- **Market Analysis & Reporting**
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and regulatory changes affecting environmental commodities.
- Prepare regular reports detailing inventory levels, financial performance, and redemption outcomes to support strategic decision-making.
2. **Tender Response & Internal Support**
- **Tender Preparation**
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tender responses focused on environmental commodities.
- Ensure that tender proposals are comprehensive and meet all technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
- Leverage market data and commodity models to produce competitive and compliant proposals.
- **Internal Administration & Compliance**
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with ISO 9001 quality standards and company policies.
- Provide general office support to ensure timely service delivery and adherence to workplace health and safety measures.
3. **Sales Support & Market Intelligence**
- **Sales Team Collaboration**
- Work closely with the sales team to understand and respond to customer needs, ensuring tender responses and proposals are aligned with market demands.
- Supply the sales team with up-to-date market intelligence, product updates, and regulatory changes to enhance customer proposals.
- **Market Intelligence & Communication**
- Develop a deep understanding of market trends, products, and regulatory changes related to environmental commodities.
- Proactively communicate these insights to relevant internal stakeholders to drive competitive positioning.
4. **Process Improvement & Compliance**
- **Continuous Improvement**
- Evaluate current procurement and inventory processes, recommending and implementing improvements to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with IT, compliance, and risk management teams to refine procedures and enhance system capabilities.
- **Standards & Safety**
- Ensure all tasks are executed in compliance with legal and statutory requirements, company policies, and workplace health and safety measures.
- Uphold best practices and ethical standards as outlined in “The Power Choice Way.”
**Key Experience Areas**
- Extensive experience in the environmental commodities market, including trading, market analysis, and regulatory knowledge.
- Deep understanding of market intelligence, tender response expertise, and strong supplier relationship management skills to drive operational excellence and competitive positioning in this rapidly evolving sector.
- Existing network within the environmental commodities industry.
**Qualifications**
- At least 5 years of experience in an environmental commodities procurement or a related role, preferably in the energy sector.
