Project Manager, APAC - Based in Singapore

Howden Specialty is part of Howden Group Holdings, the world’s largest majority employee-owned insurance group. Howden Specialty creates and services insurance programs across a diverse range of insurance and reinsurance specialisms on a global basis. The Company has 4 regional offices with Singapore being the Company’s largest hub, outside the UK.

The job holder will work with the APAC teams and UK based Business Systems team to facilitate and deliver technology change. Many of the projects they focus on will be to develop and implement new business processes and systems, or upgrades to existing software.

The project manager will provide project management services on a variety of programmes and initiatives. The project manager will be expected to oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle and take on a strong leadership role. They will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet agreed quality levels.

- Specific Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
- Manages assigned projects and contributes to other projects as required.
- Provides relevant management information to stakeholders/management team as required.

Technical: General Project Management
- Setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, tracking deliverables and monitoring / summarising the progress of projects.
- Gives direction to project resource assigned to projects including business analysts, quality assurance analysts, business SMEs, third party suppliers and development teams.
- Produces and maintains project documentation such as project plans business cases, PIDs and status update reports consistent with agreed methodology.
- Chairs and co-ordinates project meetings including steering groups and working groups.
- Responding appropriately to urgent project risks and issues as they arise with overall responsibility for resolving project issues and escalating as needed.
- Providing clean handover to “Business as Usual” support teams after projects close.

Other Projects and Duties
- Managing existing and future trading system-related projects in conjunction with the business systems support teams.
- Assisting in a project management capacity with group-wide technology programmes on behalf of HSAP.
- Assisting in managing project involving robotic process automation (RPA) to deliver HSAP automation strategies and process efficiencies.
- Performing business analyst duties on projects that do not require a specific BA resource.

Business System Maintenance
- Supporting in managing and monitoring various operating systems in APAC region.
- Assisting in rolling out company-wide new tools and/or process to the APAC region.
- Identify gaps between systems. Report and address any operational issues.
- Ensuring any changes to the operating systems are fully tested and staff are well informed of the changes before implementation.
- Ensuring consistency of processes and maintaining high standard of quality for all operating systems in APAC offices.

Stakeholder Management
- Facilitation of communication between various parties within and external to HSAP.
- Builds and maintains strong and effective relationships with internal stakeholders, business unit and external vendors.
- Point of contact and first stage decision-maker for requirements, project issues and queries.
- Resolve conflict between stakeholders and bring differing parties to agreement.
- Building up of knowledge of Howden as a company and championing business change and strategic company goals.
- Works collaboratively and maintains regular communication with peers across HSAP and the wider Group to ensure consistency in approach and promotion of best practice and facilitate efficient operational workflow and enhanced sharing of knowledge and information.
