Description:
Thales is modernizing Singapore’s oldest and longest railway lines by commissioning a state of the art communication based train control system for the North-South and East-West lines. The work has a direct impact on commuter experience with improvements such as shorter intervals between trains, less service disruptions, and faster travel times. You will be working as a Signalling Design Intern within the System Design team. The work performed is often focused on the station and trackside electrical and mechanical design artefacts such as wiring diagrams, cable layouts, CAD drawings, physical trackside hardware, and signalling routing tables. The team also designs interfaces to various third party equipment such as platform screen doors, emergency stop plungers, signal lights and others. You will also work closely with the Testing and Commissioning team, Procurement team and others in support of the overall One Team One Thales objectives. Students will learn a variety of concepts about railway signaling design and operation, and will benefit from exposure to a young and growing engineering team in Singapore.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Assist in the production of book of wiring, scheme plans, control tables, I/O bitmaps, block designs, etc.
- Review and propose hardware components and maintain Bill of Materials
- Produce design documentation including hardware system requirements
- Ensure the hardware design and functional documents produced are issued and controlled in accordance with company processes
- Analyze results from site testing activities and support problem solving for any relevant design errors or test failures. This may include visiting the field (trackside, stations or trains).
