Makerspace Coordinator

**Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Coordinating the scope/range of project possibilities available to students
- Assisting students with MakerSpace projects.
- Supervising the MS MakerSpace throughout the day.
- Monitoring student behavior in the MakerSpace and general Library area and effectively communicating behavioral expectations to students.
- Overseeing and maintaining equipment inventories and MakerSpace resources.
- Procurement of equipment and consumable materials
- Ensure that the MakerSpace operates in manner that meets appropriate Health and Safety standards
- Developing and promoting a learning environment that is inclusive, safe and user friendly.
- Providing technical assistance to students with hardware and software tools.
- Daily Library opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Facilitating and setting up spaces to be used for guest speakers, presentations and other events; including technical equipment
- Assist with book check-out/returns and other library user assistance requests as needed
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

In addition to what is listed above, other areas of leadership, and guidance may include providing support with:

- Design Technology labs
- Robotics
- Theater and set design
- Art studios
- Interdisciplinary units
- Science labs and lab equipment

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Diploma or certificate from an accredited educational institution in courses of a creative/technical nature, such as Design Technology, Robotics, Media Production & Design, Product Design & Innovation, Film, Sound and Video or areas related to new emerging technologies.
- Relevant specialized work experience in educational or commercial settings.
A combination of successfully completed post high school education and specialized work experience.

- Highly service-oriented with a passion for interacting with students, faculty, staff and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively providing technical assistance to teachers, students, and co-curricular clubs and activities, to facilitate school projects and activities.
- Organization skills necessary for managing studio/project spaces.
- Broad range of technical skills that can be applied to arts & crafts, simple woodworking, model building, kit electronics/robotics, etc.
- Computer proficiency in the use of Google suite of collaboration tools e.g. Google Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Surveys.
- Proficiency in the use of software programs for higher tech tools (i.e. laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC machines) or willingness to learn operation of these machines.
- Ability to train MakerSpace users with essential safety and tool use procedures
- Computer proficiency in the use of creativity software (eg. video and audio editing/production, digital image editing, 3D/CAD drawing, etc.
