**Primary responsibilities of the Role**:
1) To support the Claims team, in large scale pollution casualties and work with key stakeholders, including correspondents, claimants, IOPC Fund, and appointed experts to assess and process third party pollution claim.
2) To provide Claims team with accurate pollution casualty-related and technical advice and analysis.
3) To assist and support the Claims, Underwriting and Loss Prevention departments on technical pollution matters where claims trends or problem vessels are detected.
4) To identify, design and lead regular training sessions/development activities on pollution related topics that are current and in line with business needs.
5) To share Pollution -related knowledge, information, and experience across the claims team, including assisting with knowledge gathering and identifying improvements for My Claims.
6) To develop and maintain good working relationships with Member, IOPC Fund and all third-party suppliers as required.
7) To produce articles through the website, or otherwise, on pollution related incidents.
**Role Specific Technical Skills and Knowledge/Qualifications**:
**Qualifications**:
- Legal qualifications, a minimum of Bachelor of Laws, preferably a Masters in Law
- CPD - satisfies the minimum industry requirements.
**Knowledge**:
- Good understanding of the International Group P&I Clubs’ aims, objectives, structures and finances.
- Good working knowledge of the Clubs’ systems and processes to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Comprehensive understanding of P&I cover, including the Club’s reinsurance structure/reporting requirements and the Claims Procedure Manual.
- Comprehensive understanding of the relevant pollution conventions and insurance arrangements that interplay on a large-scale casualty.
- Previous experience working for and/or closely with ITOPF.
- Previous experience working for and/or closely with IOPFC Fund and a comprehensive understanding of their claims systems.
Previous experience in setting up small claims offices to handle pollution related claims.
**Skills**:
- Competent in writing coherent and comprehensive notes on own claims and reports to reinsurers and other key stakeholders in a pollution casualty related matter.
- Competent in leading Pollution casualty-related meetings with correspondents, external and internal stakeholders and conveys confidence and anticipating queries.
Ability to travel solo to visit local claims offices as well as to visit members brokers who have generated pollution casualty claims.
