**Job Summary**
The Junior Sommelier needs to have an interest in sake. The Sommelier shall be responsible for the sake recommendation, suggesting food and sake pairing for guests and maintaining the cellar and inventory. Introduction of the new sake labels into the list so that it remains current and relevant to the sakes listed. He/she has an in-depth knowledge of sakes and can upsell to guests. He/she shall assist the restaurant’s operation service team and generate high sales turnover. He/she conducts regular training sessions to ensure the service team is up to par in terms of their technical and product knowledge.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsible for inventory management, i.e wine, sake (including purchasing locally and through direct imports with Japan), glassware, and linen through proper planning and utilization of available resources and reconciliation for all outlets.
- Ensure that wine and sake orders are received correctly, and price charges are accurate, properly stored, recorded, and kept in the chiller.
- Responsible for creating and updating the costing/retail prices for the wine and sake labels and descriptions on listings and websites.
- Responsible for advising and recommending to patrons according to their personal needs, i.e taste, food, sake pairing, occasion, or budget.
- Jointly responsible for achieving sales targets, quality expectations, and service performance.
- Ensuring billing/cash management protocols always adhere to and balances are correct.
- Document daily sales and operation reports and collate monthly reports and documents for on-time submission.
- Work closely with the kitchen to design an effective menu while ensuring excellent product quality at a fair price.
- Walkthrough back and public areas including entrance and washrooms before the daily operation to ensure a clean, neat, tidy, and odour-free environment.
- Ensure all equipment are in perfect working condition and report deficiencies.
- Be able to describe and ensure the quality of food items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Ensure reservations and reconfirmations are captured, recorded, and honoured.
- Participate in service to support the team.
- Handling and resolving guests’ complaints.
- Any other tasks assigned to you by the OM.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience with a WSET certificate
- Comfortable and willing to interact with guests.
- Well-groomed with a pleasant disposition
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-analysis and problem-solving Skills
- Ability to contribute to a positive working culture within a team.
Salary ranges from $2,800 to $3,500
Working days: 5.5 days
Working hours: 11 am to 10.30 pm (from Tue to Thur), 4 pm to 10.30 pm (Mon), and 11 am to 12 am (Fri & Sat)
Break: 2 hours
Location: Forum the Shopping Mall, Orchard Road

**Salary**: $2,800.00 - $3,500.00 per month
