**The Role**

**You will be responsible for **converting text into digital or printed form, in preparation for printing and publishing. You must have an eye for detail and a deep understanding of typography, design principles, and other related concepts.

**Job Duties**:

- Typesetting publication materials;
- Proofreading the text to ensure it is free of errors before printing;
- Reading manuscript material and formatting it accordingly using Adobe InDesign;
- Performing layout work to arrange text and images on a page in accordance with the project’s requirements;
- Working with editors and authors to review drafts of their work for accuracy, format, and style prior to publication;
- Communicate with editors and authors about any changes that need to be made to ensure that the layout meets their requirements.
- Conceptualising and developing design concepts, graphics and layouts.
- Liaising with suppliers and service providers to ensure proofs are of good quality and in line with production specifications.
- All aspects of Print Production, from colour management to localization.
- Creating and modifying finished artwork files for a variety of print-related production needs.
- Overseeing retouching and proof reviews to ensure a high level of quality.
- Conceiving and directing editorial content.
- Ensuring all published stories are factually and grammatically correct and readable.
- Writing captions and headlines and ensuring they are search engine optimized.
- Proof reading and overseeing content copy including checking spelling, syntax, grammar, style and consistency.
- Ensuring all copy has proper voice, context, balance and clarity and is in line with the editorial strategy.
- Writing with headlines and captions.
- Checking for consistency of mechanics and internal consistency of facts.
- Taking a "design brief" to understand requirements.
- Presenting ideas, concepts and design solutions to various stakeholders.
- Identifying design problems and devising elegant solutions.

**Ideal Profile**

**Requirements**:

- You have at least 1 year experience, ideally within Copy Editor, Graphic Design, Print Production or Sub Editor.
- You are a good multi-tasker who can work within tight deadlines.
- You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can articulate your ideas to different stakeholders.
- You possess strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to set targets, prioritise effectively and productively.
- You have experience in concepting and page designing.
- You a keen eye to ensure that the content is free from errors and complies with editorial style and guidelines.
- You have good knowledge of Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
- You are a strong team player who can manage multiple stakeholders.
- You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is of a high standard.
- You are adaptable and thrive in changing environments.
