**Get to know our team**:
The Foundations team is responsible for cloud engineering and developer tools at Grab. We make an impact by building the automation and tooling that enables our platform and product teams. Your work will be used by thousands of engineers to observe millions of Grab transactions a day on hundreds of microservices.

**Get to know the role**:
**The day-to-day activities**:

- You will be responsible for the successful operation and uptime of our internal observability tools
- You mostly review and sometimes write Terraform and Ansible code to manage your team’s infrastructure
- You support your team’s on-call rotation by either being on the rotation or in the escalation path
- You work with your team, customers, and vendors to optimize the ROI for our cloud spend on observability
- You will work with your team to help define their career progression and how Grab can support that
- You will be engaged in planning and roadmap exercises to both layout a vision for observability in Grab, and co-ordinate execution of that vision

**The must-haves**:

- You have experience operating production services in one or more cloud environments (AWS or Azure preferred)
- You have experience administering a recent version of the ELK stack (v6.x.x or v7.x.x)
- You have experience with modern observability tools, e.g. Lightstep, Honeycomb, Prometheus, Grafana, etc
- You have experience administering Linux systems and are comfortable writing Python and/or shell scripts to facilitate operation
- You must have experience managing at least a small technical team

**The measures of success**:
You will be successful in this role when you execute on the below:
**In the first 30 days**
- You have completed our onboarding process
- You have set up regular cadences for team meetings and 1:1s with your team
- You have taken part in the team’s planning process and taken on small tasks to familiarize yourself
- You have reviewed the hiring plan with your manager and start to execute on it

**In the first 90 days**
- You have reviewed the team’s success metrics and proposed some of your own
- You have held conversations with internal customers to understand how they are using your tools and prioritize the features they are requesting
- You have executed some of our runbooks in staging and have identified gaps or potential improvements
- You have reviewed CVs and interviewed prospects for the team

**In the first 180 days**
- You have demonstrated our values of Heart, Hunger, Honour, and Humility as indicated via your feedback from reports and stakeholders
- Your team has successfully executed on its highest priorities
- You have identified an initiative to advance the state of Observability at Grab via a written proposal or proof of concept
- (If needed) You have guided your team in writing or contributing to a blameless postmortem to learn from operational surprises and near misses
